Odisha Honoured for Leading PMAY-U 2.0 Reforms, Receives Special Recognition Award

Odisha has been conferred a Special Recognition Award by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for recording the highest number of reforms under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0.
The award was presented in New Delhi on Monday during the PMAY-U Awards 2026, acknowledging Odisha’s efforts to make urban housing delivery more efficient, transparent and accessible to beneficiaries.
The State has undertaken a range of reforms aimed at reducing procedural hurdles, improving coordination between government agencies and Urban Local Bodies, and making greater use of technology in the implementation of housing schemes.
According to the Odisha government, these initiatives have helped establish a more efficient and citizen-focused system for providing housing assistance under PMAY-U 2.0.
Welcoming the honour, Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said the recognition was the result of coordinated efforts by government officials, Urban Local Bodies and various implementing agencies.

He said the government’s focus extends beyond simply building houses, with emphasis also being placed on ensuring that eligible families receive housing benefits through a transparent and hassle-free process.
The minister added that Odisha would continue to pursue administrative reforms, accelerate project execution and strengthen last-mile delivery under PMAY-U 2.0.
The award is being seen as an important recognition of Odisha’s efforts to promote reform-based urban governance and further the national goal of providing Housing for All.
