Jaleswar Minor Rape-Murder Case: Three Detained, Political Protests Intensify

Jaleswar: Police have detained three people, including a woman, for questioning in connection with the rape and murder of a minor girl in Jaleswar. The development follows an FIR lodged by the victim’s family and the earlier arrest of the prime accused, Chandrakant Jena.

The horrific incident has triggered widespread outrage across Odisha, with opposition parties demanding a fair, transparent and time-bound investigation. A high-level BJD delegation visited the victim’s family to express solidarity and seek swift justice, while Congress workers staged a protest outside Jaleswar police station, raising concerns over women’s safety and alleged lapses in the handling of the case.
