Cabinet Raises Rabi MSPs; Safflower Gets ₹675 Hike

The Union Cabinet has approved higher Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season, with safflower receiving the biggest increase of ₹675 per quintal.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the move aims to ensure better returns for farmers. MSP for rapeseed and mustard has been raised by ₹413 per quintal, while masur (lentil) gets a ₹390 hike. Barley, gram and wheat MSPs have been increased by ₹136, ₹83 and ₹25 per quintal, respectively.
The government said the revised MSPs follow the policy of fixing crop prices at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production.

The Cabinet also cleared a ₹1,789-crore Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) for Delhi Police. The project will cover 42 major traffic corridors and be rolled out in three phases over 24 months, followed by five years of maintenance.
In another decision, the Cabinet approved the third phase of the Green Energy Corridor. The scheme aims to strengthen intra-state power transmission and support the evacuation of up to 135 GW of renewable energy. It also includes 50 GWh of battery storage capacity to improve grid flexibility and manage renewable power fluctuations.
