Capital Hospital Endoscopy Service Halted After Machine Fault

Endoscopy services at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar have been temporarily suspended after the hospital’s endoscopy equipment developed a technical problem, causing inconvenience to patients.
The disruption has affected patients who had been referred for the diagnostic procedure, including those travelling from distant areas. Many reportedly had to return without undergoing the test.
Capital Hospital provides endoscopy free of charge, making the facility particularly important for patients from economically weaker sections. The hospital usually conducts the procedure three days a week, with around 30–40 patients undergoing the examination each day.

With the machine out of service, some patients are now having to seek endoscopy at private hospitals or other healthcare centres, increasing their treatment expenses.
Hospital director-in-charge Dr Prabhat Kumar Rath confirmed the equipment malfunction and said the company concerned has been informed. Since the machine is still under warranty, the company will carry out the repairs.
Hospital authorities said efforts are underway to restore the equipment and restart the endoscopy service at the earliest.
