Worker Killed After Wall Collapses At Under-Construction Lodge In Puri

Puri: A worker was killed after a wall collapsed at an under-construction lodge on Chakratirtha Road in Puri on Saturday, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Papu, a resident of Jagatsinghpur district.

According to reports, construction work was underway at Durga Lodge near Chakratirtha Road when a wall of the structure suddenly gave way, trapping the worker under the debris.

On receiving information, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The worker was later pulled out from the rubble and shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The Odisha Fire and Emergency Service assisted in the rescue and recovery operation.

Police said the Marine Police Station has initiated an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances that led to the collapse.
