Hit-and-run horror in Bhubaneswar: Speeding car drags man for 3 km, mutilated body found near Baramunda

Bhubaneswar: A horrific hit-and-run incident was witnessed in the State Capital city as a speeding car, allegedly struck a pedestrian and dragged him about 3 km on National Highway before making a getaway.

The deceased has been identified as Hadu Mallik, a fish trader from Baghamari of Khordha district.

As per sources, Hadu was waiting to cross the NH in Tamando when a speeding car allegedly hit him and then dragged him for about 3 kms before leaving him in front of Tata Motors on the NH in Baramunda.

The body of the deceased was severely mutilated due to being dragged and had serious injuries in head and other parts of the body

This horrific incident was witnessed in the presence of other fish traders, who saw the car speeding away with the body lodged underneath

On being informed, Police rushed to the site and seized the body for postmortem.

Police have also found the Luna scooter belonging to victim and have recorded the statement of his friends.

Luna has been taken from accident spot by police and efforts are being made to trace the speeding vehicle involved in the accident.

Tamando police has registered a hit-and-run case.
