Minor girl drowns in river while taking water for Jalavishek at Shiva temple in Baleshwar

Balasore: A minor girl died after drowning in the Badakia Nala river while taking a dip in Chandipur police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday morning.

The unfortunate incident took place while she was trying to bring water from the water body to perform Jalavishek at the Jhadeshaw temple on Monday of holy Shravan month.

According to sources, the girl was taking dip along with her family members when suddenly she did not come up from the water for a long time. So, the panicked family members began searching for her and after they failed to locate her they informed the Fire brigade.

On receiving information about the incident, the Fire Service personnel reached the place and rescued the girl from the water.

The minor girl was rushed to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital where the doctor declared her dead.

The deceased minor’s house is known to be in Majhikia village under Chandipur police jurisdiction.
