Water levels in Baitarani, Salandi rivers begin to recede

Bhubaneswar: There has been a fall in the water levels of river Baitarani and Salandi since Saturday night alleviating fear of recurrence of flood in the area.

As per sources, earlier the level of Baitarani at Akhuapada river had crossed the warning level to reach near the danger mark of 18.33 feet which is now reduced to 18.03 feet.

Similarly, the Salandi river water level had gone up in Rajghat crossing danger mark 17 feet, which is reduced to 16 feet.

However, relief eludes due to a 200 foot breach in the Salandi at Barodih and a 300 foot breach in Nalia at Lanjatara which continue to flow a lot of water.

Agricultural lands in four villages under Baro and four village under Bilan Panchayat continues to be under water.

Authorities have been monitoring the situation closely.
