Mahakalpada row: Sarpanch Chameli Ojha arrested and sent to jail as bail petition gets rejected

Kendrapara: Chameli Ojha, Sarpanch of Tikhiri village under Mahakalapada block in Kendrapara district, has been arrested and sent to jail after her bail petition got rejected on Saturday. She has been arrested and produced before Majistrate in connection with a case filed against her over attack on police personnel in Mahakalapada police station.
According to reports, Chameli allegedly tried to bite female police officials while they were trying to detain her. The sarpach was reportedly detained by police while she was admitted at the hospital.
The sarpanch reportedly got enrolled into the controversy while she had gone to the BDO to report a complaint over selective demolition. She had reportedly protested against what she termed selective action by revenue officials.
The matter started with Chameli causing a ruckus at the BDO office by making a video. Then the BDO had called the police and had Chameli and her brother detained. She had made a live video of the whole incident and shared it on social media, drawing wide spread attention to the matter.
She had submitted written complaint to SP that the police personnel had allegedly beaten her inside the vehicle. The Sarpanch Association had met with the SP and demanded an unbiased investigation to the matter.
Chameli Ojha had also written to the Chief Minister, demanding justice.
