Indonesia Named Partner Country for Bali Jatra 2026

Indonesia will be the official partner country for Bali Jatra 2026, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced. The iconic festival will be held in Cuttack from November 26 to December 1 along the banks of the Mahanadi.

The partnership is aimed at reviving and highlighting the centuries-old maritime links between Odisha and Indonesia. It is also expected to encourage greater cultural interaction while opening opportunities for cooperation in tourism, trade and industry.
Majhi said that a high-level Odisha delegation will travel to Bali as part of the ‘Taking It to Bali’ initiative, while Indonesia will join Bali Jatra 2026 as the partner country.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the festival’s growing economic importance. According to him, the 2025 edition drew around 65 lakh visitors and generated business worth more than ₹400 crore, with participation from 24 states.

The Odisha government has increasingly promoted Bali Jatra not only as a celebration of the state’s maritime legacy but also as a platform for artisans, weavers, self-help groups, traders and entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products.
Cuttack Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde said Indonesia’s participation would further deepen the historical connection between Odisha and the Southeast Asian nation. He said the collaboration would help showcase Odisha’s cultural heritage while creating avenues for tourism promotion, cultural exchange and economic cooperation.
