IMD issues orange warning for thunderstorm and lightning in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange warning for thunderstorm and lightning in Odisha.

As predicted by the weather department, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 50-60 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Koraput, and Malkangiri till 8.30 AM tomorrow.

The IMD also issued yellow warning for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph). The weather activity is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
