Ganjam Launches Helplines to Check Fertiliser Black Marketing During Kharif Season

Berhampur: The Ganjam district administration has launched a toll-free helpline and a WhatsApp number to help farmers report cases of fertiliser black marketing, hoarding and overcharging during the ongoing kharif season.
The initiative has been taken to ensure that farmers receive fertilisers at government-prescribed prices and that dealers maintain transparency in the distribution and sale of stocks.
Ganjam Collector Keerthi Vasan V said on Monday that fertiliser stocks are being made available at the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) level to ensure smooth and timely distribution among farmers.
As part of the monitoring measures, all retail fertiliser outlets have been directed to prominently display the official rate chart outside their shops. Dealers must also provide details of the fertilisers available and the quantity in stock.
The district administration has launched an awareness campaign through social media and other platforms, urging farmers to remain alert and report any irregularities they come across.
Farmers can lodge complaints regarding black marketing or sale of fertilisers at higher-than-prescribed prices by calling the toll-free number 0680-2233262. Complaints can also be submitted through WhatsApp at 7789032620
Farmers have been asked to share photographs of fertiliser shops through the WhatsApp number if dealers fail to display the rate chart or stock details as required. Officials will examine the complaints and conduct inquiries wherever necessary.
The administration has warned fertiliser dealers that strict action will be taken against those found violating the prescribed guidelines or indulging in overpricing, hoarding or black marketing.
Officials have appealed to farmers to make use of the helplines and promptly report violations to ensure fair and transparent distribution of fertilisers during the kharif season.
