Odisha Weather Alert: Thunderstorms, Lightning And Rain Likely In 5 Districts

Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rain over the next few hours, according to a nowcast issued by the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.

The weather office, in its warning issued at 10:30 am on Tuesday, forecast the possibility of thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rainfall at a few places in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Ganjam and Sundargarh districts during the next three hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised people in the affected areas to remain alert and keep track of changing weather conditions.

Residents have also been advised to take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and avoid staying in open spaces. People should particularly stay away from isolated trees, electric poles and other exposed locations until the weather improves.

The warning comes amid active monsoon conditions prevailing over several parts of Odisha, with thunderstorms and rain expected in different areas of the state.
