Robert Pattinson to play Batman

From being the world’s sexiest vampire for an entire generation of teenage girls, actor Robert Pattinson is now all set to become the Batman. According to Variety, he is in negotiations to play The Caped Crusader in Warner Bros’ upcoming film that will be directed by Matt Reeves.

While an official confirmation is awaited, the report says Pattinson will shortly close the deal and is studio’s final choice. The film will begin pre-production later this year.

Pattinson successfully managed to outgrow his role in the Twilight series with arthouse cinema. He has four films opening this year — Claire Denis’ High Life, Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, Netflix’s The King and Waiting for the Barbarians. At 32, Pattinson will be the youngest actor to ever play Batman on the big screen. The superhero has previously been played on screen by Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck.
