Youth rapes pregnant woman at Balasore over past enmity

(Reporters Today, Bubaneswar): A pregnant woman was allegedly raped at Singhakhunta village in Soro area of Odisha’s Balasore district on Tuesday night.

The accused, identified as a 22-year-old youth of the village, who abducted the pregnant woman from her house when she was sleeping with her sister-in-laws and later raped her at his place.He took her to his house in the village and assaulted her, sexually and physically. While her family members rushed to her rescue, Nayak attacked them with a sharp weapon. Later, with the help of villagers, they rescued her on Wednesday morning. He allegedly committed the act over a previous enmity with the woman. Police have started investigation and detained the accused.
