Youth Kidnapped, Shot Dead In Rayagada; Four Special Teams Formed To Nab Accused

Rayagada: A shocking incident of abduction and murder has triggered panic in Rayagada town after a young man was allegedly chased, fired upon, kidnapped, and later found dead near the Janjabati river bank.
The incident took place around 10 PM on Saturday in the third line area of Indira Nagar under Rayagada Town police limits.

According to preliminary reports, a group of unidentified miscreants arrived in the area on a Bullet motorcycle and a four-wheeler and confronted the youth. Following a heated argument, the attackers allegedly chased him and opened fire as he attempted to flee.
In a desperate bid to save himself, the youth reportedly tried to take shelter inside a nearby house. However, the assailants allegedly dragged him out and forcibly abducted him towards the Ring Road area.
On Sunday morning, the body of the abducted youth was recovered near the banks of the Janjabati river, intensifying suspicions that he was murdered after the kidnapping.
Police have not yet officially disclosed the identity of the deceased. Sources said previous enmity is suspected to be the motive behind the crime.
Rayagada Town Police registered a case soon after the incident and launched an investigation.
Speaking to the media, Rayagada Superintendent of Police Swati S. Kumar said four special teams have been formed to probe the case and arrest the accused at the earliest.
“The accused have been identified and all possible efforts are underway to apprehend them soon,” the SP said.
The incident has created fear among residents of the Indira Nagar area, with locals expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the town. Police have appealed to the public to share any information that could help in the investigation.
