Law Minister Vows Strict Punishment in Balianta Lynching Case

Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan assured that the government will impose strict punishment on those involved in the Balianta mob lynching case that claimed the life of GRP Constable Soumya Ranjan Swain.
The minister said the administration has adopted a tougher stance against criminals and will ensure justice for the victim’s family. He emphasised that the conviction rate in the state has increased and daily reports are being reviewed to strengthen law enforcement.
He stated that the government remains alert to prevent such incidents in the future and will continue to monitor sensitive areas closely. The minister reiterated that the approach toward offenders will remain uncompromising and that the rule of law will prevail.
Officials confirmed that police investigations are progressing rapidly, and the government is determined to deliver justice without delay. The minister’s statement came amid public outrage and growing calls for accountability following the brutal killing.
He added that the administration is committed to maintaining peace and order across the state and will not tolerate any form of mob violence.
