Three Workers Killed in Tragic Accident at Sponge Iron Factory in Angul

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, three workers lost their lives following an accident at a sponge iron factory, Sri Metallics Plant, under Nisha police limits in Angul district on Monday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Mangal Majhi, Pintu Kumar, and Sridhar Bagei, all residents of Sundargarh district.

According to reports, the workers were carrying out maintenance work inside the factory when the mishap occurred. They sustained critical injuries and were immediately rushed to Hindol Hospital. However, doctors declared all three brought dead.

Allegations have surfaced that the rescue operation was delayed and the victims were taken to the hospital late at night. It is also claimed that, in an attempt to avoid unrest, they were initially admitted to Hindol Hospital under the pretext of being referred to Cuttack. Furthermore, the police were reportedly not informed about the incident promptly.

An investigation into the incident is expected.
