IMD Issues Thunderstorm Nowcast for 12 Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a nowcast warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds across parts of 12 districts of Odisha over the next three hours.

According to the warning issued at 7:10 am, thunderstorms with lightning, rain, and surface wind speeds of 30–40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Sundargarh districts till around 10:10 am. A yellow warning has been issued for these districts.

The Met Department has advised residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and monitor weather updates closely. People have been urged to move to safer locations during lightning activity and avoid open areas, tall trees, waterbodies, and unsecured structures.
