Temperatures Dip Sharply Across Odisha, Bhubaneswar Sees 3.2°C Fall

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is witnessing a sharp drop in temperatures, with several parts of the state recording a significant fall over the past two days. Bhubaneswar has seen a decline of 3.2°C, while western Odisha’s Jharsuguda recorded an even steeper drop of 5.6°C.

As per official data, the temperature in Bhubaneswar stood at 15.4°C at 5.30 am on Tuesday, down from 18.6°C on January 4 and 18°C on January 5. Jharsuguda reported a minimum temperature of 8°C after experiencing the sharpest fall in the state.

Several other locations also recorded substantial declines in minimum temperatures. Balasore registered a drop of 5°C, followed by Keonjhar at 4.8°C, Chandbali at 4°C, Paradip at 3.6°C and Puri at 2.6°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that night temperatures across Odisha are likely to fall further over the next four days before stabilising.

For Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas, the IMD has forecast dense fog during early morning hours over the next 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 27°C and 16°C respectively, with high humidity contributing to persistent foggy conditions.

The IMD has also issued an advisory to farmers, warning that dense fog may disrupt early morning agricultural activities in several districts. However, no weather warning has been issued for fishermen along the Odisha coast, as sea conditions are expected to remain calm for the next five days.
