CM Majhi Reviews Health Projects, Approves Digital Mission Pilot in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday reviewed various ongoing and proposed projects of the Health Department, with a focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving service delivery across the state.

According to an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the Chief Minister approved the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) as a pilot project in Keonjhar district. If the pilot proves successful, the digital health initiative will be rolled out across Odisha.

The ABDM aims to digitalise key healthcare services such as patient appointments, bookings, referrals and follow-ups. The initiative is expected to reduce patient waiting time and ensure optimal utilisation of healthcare infrastructure.

In another major decision, CM Majhi directed the introduction of Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses at District Headquarter Hospitals (DHHs). The move is intended to enhance doctors’ professional skills by providing advanced clinical and practical training at the district level.

To strengthen the AYUSH system in the state, the Chief Minister instructed AYUSH doctors to prescribe only Ayurvedic medicines and refrain from prescribing allopathic drugs. He further directed officials to ensure the availability of Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medicines at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, with the aim of prioritising and promoting AYUSH services in Odisha.

The review meeting underscored the state government’s commitment to modernising healthcare delivery while simultaneously promoting traditional systems of medicine.
