Strict Action against Illegal Sand Mining, Cuttack Collector Issues Warning

Cuttack: Warning to sand mafias. Strict action will be taken if sand is lifted. The Cuttack Collector has issued a stern warning.

Not only will action be taken under the ODMMC Rules meant for minor mineral resources, but stringent measures will also be enforced under the Disaster Management Act.

The Collector informed that show-cause notices have been issued to officials of the Revenue, Mining, and Water Resources departments regarding an incident that came to light in the Niali area.

The Collector also appealed to the public to inform the district administration if sand lifting is taking place at any sand quarry despite the ban.

Earlier, the Cuttack district administration had prohibited sand lifting from quarries during periods of rising river water levels.
