Yellow alert for heavy rain issued for 20 districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that a fresh cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal by June 24. Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation, Odisha is expected to receive fresh bout of rainfall.

In addition, the weather department has also specified that currently there is no clear indication of whether the cyclonic circulation will turn into a low pressure in the future.

Meanwhile, the state continues to receive rainfall under the influence of Monsoon. A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for several districts of Odisha till June 24.

According to the latest weather report, around 20 districts of Odisha has received a yellow alert for rainfall along with lighting and thunderstorm. Eight districts will experience heavy rainfall.

The Meteorological Department has issued a rain warning for half of Odisha till the June 23rd.

The total rainfall recorded in the state from June 1 to July 19 is 463.8 mm. It is 14 percent more than the normal rainfall of 405.5 mm. Sonepur has received 102 percent more rainfall and Bargarh 61 percent more rainfall. Kandhamal has received 66 percent more rainfall, Kendrapara 76 percent more rainfall and Jagatsinghpur 68 percent more rainfall.
