Sensex Soars 1,718 Points, Nifty Reclaims 25,000 As Markets Stage Spectacular Rally

Mumbai: Indian stock markets staged a spectacular rally on Friday, with benchmark indices surging over 2% amid strong buying across sectors. The Sensex crossed the 81,000 mark, while the Nifty 50 reclaimed the psychologically significant 25,000 level.

The BSE Sensex jumped 1,718.02 points, or 2.17%, to settle at 81,028.02, while the NSE Nifty surged 493.75 points, or 2.01%, to close at 25,030.35.

The rally was supported by renewed foreign institutional investor (FII) inflows, strong September-quarter earnings and improved investor sentiment. Foreign investors purchased equities worth around Rs 14,975 crore on Thursday, marking their biggest single-day buying in nearly six years.

Buying interest was also supported by strong corporate earnings, with Mahindra & Mahindra gaining attention after reporting a 25% rise in consolidated quarterly profit. Banking, automobile and technology stocks also witnessed selective buying.

Expectations surrounding easing geopolitical tensions, softer crude oil prices and global monetary policy developments may have further boosted market sentiment. Bargain hunting and short covering are also seen as possible contributors to the sharp recovery.

The rally comes ahead of Sunday’s Diwali Muhurat trading session, adding to the festive optimism in the markets. However, analysts remain watchful of geopolitical uncertainties, crude oil volatility and possible profit-booking after the sharp gains.
