Private bus slapped with Rs 8.4 lakh fine in Ganjam

Chattrapur: The Ganjam transport department has fined a private bus with a heavy penalty of Rs 8,40,163 on Monday.

According to sources, a private bus named Jayshree with registration number OD-19-R-4597 traveling from Berhampur to Chhatrapur, was intercepted and checked by the traffic police under the Ganjam Trasportaion department.

During the checking, the  bus was found to be lacking in several crucial travel documents including vehicle fitness, Road Tax, Pollution Certificate, and Insurance. Moreover, the driver of the bus also lacked the required driving license.

The bus was fined a total of Rs 8,40,163, out of which Pending Road Tax amounts to Rs 8,05,163, Rs 5,000 for absence of Registration papers, Rs 10,000 for Pollution Certificate Absence.

The chanal has been issued under the name of the bus owner Santosh Kumar Sahu.

The bus has been seized and parked at the Driving Testing Center in Agastinuagaon. The vehicle will be released after the fine has been paid by the owner.
