Naveen Patnaik demands resignation of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond

Bhubaneswar: BJD president and Odisha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik on Monday demanded the resignation of School and Mass Education (S&ME) Minister Nityananda Gond over alleged errors in school textbooks.
Naveen Patnaik said several mistakes had been found in textbooks meant for children and argued that the Minister should take moral responsibility for the lapses.
Naveen said that Minister Gond should follow the example of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and resign from his ministerial post. He added that the BJD had been raising the demand for Minister Gond’s resignation for the past two to three weeks.
Meanwhile, Congress has warned that they will hold a Odisha bandh protest if the Education minister did not resign from his post.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Bibhuti Bhusan Jena has counterattacked against the Opposition allegation and argued that there were many cases of paper leaks and disruptions in the last 24 years, but no body had resigned from their position for this. He stated that ‘Naveen Babu’ should set an example first. He also said that the Central Government has taken strict action over the NEET paper leak.
