Pramila Mallik Appointed to Head Odisha PAC for 2026-27

Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and Chief Whip of the party in the Odisha Assembly, Pramila Mallik, has been appointed Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Odisha Legislative Assembly for the 2026-27 financial year.

The appointment was announced through a notification issued by the Assembly Secretariat on June 25. According to the notification, Speaker Surama Padhy appointed Mallik as the PAC Chairperson under Rule 197(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

The notification also stated that a 12-member Public Accounts Committee has been constituted under Rule 135(1). Besides Mallik, the committee includes Congress Legislature Party leader Rama Chandra Kadam, Dr. Aruna Kumar Sahu, Ganeswar Behera, Sanatan Bijuli, Akash Dasnayak, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Ashok Mohanty, Babu Singh, Santosh Khatua, Amar Kumar Nayak and Arabinda Mohapatra.

The Public Accounts Committee is one of the Assembly’s most important financial oversight bodies. It examines reports submitted by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and reviews government expenditure to ensure that public funds are utilised in accordance with legislative approvals and prescribed financial norms.
