Nepal Flash Floods: Rescue Operations Intensify, 626 Dead

Search and rescue operations are continuing across flood-hit districts of Nepal following devastating flash floods that have claimed 626 lives, while more than 2,000 people are still reported missing.
According to officials, the highest number of bodies has been recovered from Chitwan, followed by Nawalparasi East, Gorkha, Nawalparasi West, Dhading, Nuwakot, Tanahun and Rasuwa.

Police, local residents and multiple agencies are working together to trace missing people and rescue those stranded in high-risk areas. Survivors are being shifted to safer locations, while teams are also clearing roads blocked by flood debris and landslides to restore access for relief operations.
320 Indians Still Uncontactable
India’s Ministry of External Affairs said around 320 Indian nationals remain uncontactable or missing following Wednesday’s flash floods. Another 100 people of Indian origin holding other nationalities are also reportedly uncontactable.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that 63 Indian nationals working at the Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project have been rescued.
MEA Sets Up 24×7 Help System
The Indian government has established a round-the-clock control room to coordinate rescue, relief and tracking efforts. Indian missions in Kathmandu and Beijing have also opened 24×7 helplines to assist affected citizens and their families.
Flood Originated in Tibet
The flash flood in Nepal’s Rasuwa district reportedly originated in the Tibetan region of China before rushing through the transboundary Bhote Koshi River, causing widespread destruction in Nepal.
