Monsoon to Reach Odisha Before Raja

Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon is likely to enter Odisha ahead of the Raja festival, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said.
According to the forecast, monsoon will reach some parts of south Odisha within the next 2-3 days.
The monsoon current has already advanced into parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and conditions remain favourable for its further progress into west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal.
The IMD has issued a Nor’wester or Kalabaisakhi alert for the entire state from today till June 14. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected during this period.
Koraput and Malkangiri districts are likely to see heavy rainfall on June 11. On June 12, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati districts may experience intense showers.
Due to strong winds and rough seas along the Odisha coast, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea on June 12 and 13.
The Nor’wester backed rain will continue in the State till June 14, the weather alert by MeT also said.
