Modern Kalinga Studio Inaugurated, Majhi Urges Filmmakers to Showcase Odisha

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday inaugurated the renovated Kalinga Studio, upgraded with modern production and post-production facilities to support the growing Odia film industry.
The revamped complex includes indoor shooting floors, a snow house, chroma floor, technology zone, sound recording and dubbing facilities, along with editing and post-production infrastructure. Majhi said the facilities would reduce the need for Odia filmmakers to travel outside the state for technical work, with more upgrades planned.

A dedicated cinema archive and museum was also opened to preserve Odisha’s film heritage through old movies, posters, photographs and historical records.
Recalling the contribution of films such as Maa, Amadabat and Matira Manisha, Majhi encouraged young filmmakers to draw inspiration from Odisha’s literature, folklore, history and cultural traditions.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said the studio would function as a complete film-production ecosystem and generate employment and economic opportunities. Majhi also launched the new official portal of the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC).
BJP MLAs Babu Singh, Sidhant Mohapatra and Akash Das Nayak, along with senior officials, attended the inauguration.
