IMD Issues Fresh Rain Alert for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack; Light to Moderate Showers Expected

Bhubaneswar: Residents of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and adjoining areas may experience light to moderate rainfall over the next few hours, according to a nowcast warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday morning.

The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, in its alert issued at 8:50 am, forecast rain activity at one or two locations in Khurda and Cuttack districts, including the cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. A yellow warning has been issued for both districts.

Weather officials have advised people to remain alert and monitor local weather conditions, as intermittent rain spells could affect normal activities. While the forecast primarily indicates light to moderate precipitation, isolated gusty winds may also accompany the showers due to prevailing atmospheric instability.

The latest advisory comes amid continued monsoon influence over the region, which has kept moisture levels high and weather conditions favourable for the development of rain-bearing clouds.

Notably, this is the second nowcast warning issued by the IMD for the twin-city region on the same day, indicating the possibility of recurring rainfall activity during the day.
