Gunmen Open Fire at Binika Block Chairperson’s Residence, Vehicles Damaged

Sonepur: Tension gripped Singiyuba village in Subarnapur district after unidentified miscreants allegedly opened fire at the residence of Binika Block Chairperson Diptirekha Nanda late on Friday night.
According to reports, the attackers fired multiple rounds at the house, with nearly 25 bullets allegedly discharged during the incident. While no injuries were reported among the family members present inside the residence, two vehicles parked within and outside the premises sustained damage after being struck by bullets.
The attack has raised concern in the area, particularly as Diptirekha Nanda’s husband, Ashok Nanda, is a well-known political figure. He currently serves as the District President of the Youth BJD and had earlier held the post of Block Chairman.
Following the incident, police personnel rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Officials have begun examining CCTV footage from nearby locations and are collecting evidence to identify those involved in the firing.
The reason behind the attack is yet to be established, and investigators are exploring all possible angles. Security has been tightened in the area as the probe continues.
