BK Arukha declared elected Speaker OLA

Bhubaneswar, June 13

BJD’s Bikram Keshari Arukha was on Monday declared elected as Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Arukha was the lone candidate for the post which had fallen vacant following the resignation of Suryanarayan Patro on health grounds.

Notably, former Forest & Environment and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Arukha was dropped from the council of minister by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during the reshuffle he effected on June 5.

While filing his nomination for the post Arukha had said that he will strive to maintain the dignity of the House and had sought the cooperation of the MLAs for smooth conduct of proceedings in the House.
