Pune to Host 2032 UCI Road World Championships

Pune is set to make history by hosting the UCI Road World Championships in 2032, becoming the first Indian city to stage cycling’s premieri global road racing event.
The announcement was made at the UCI Congress in Montreal after Pune presented its final bid. The candidature was jointly backed by the Maharashtra government and the Cycling Federation of India, with support from the Government of India.

Pune emerged as the final contender against Groningen/Drenthe in the Netherlands, while Colombia and Mexico were eliminated earlier in the selection process. A UCI inspection team had also visited proposed venues, including Balewadi Stadium and the Pune University circuit.

The 2032 championships are expected to bring top cyclists from around the world to India and offer Indian riders, coaches and technical officials greater international exposure. Cycling Federation of India Secretary General Maninder Pal Singh said hosting the event would also help strengthen development opportunities for the country’s cycling community.
