7-Month-Old White Tiger Cub Dies After Illness at Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar: A seven-month-old white tiger cub died at Nandankanan Zoological Park on Sunday, leaving park authorities and visitors in deep shock. The cub was born in November 2024 to tiger pair Krishna and Rupa.

According to zoo officials, the cub had fallen ill in March and was kept under observation in isolation for treatment. Although it showed signs of recovery and was later returned to its enclosure, the cub’s sudden demise has raised concerns.

The exact cause of death will be confirmed after a post-mortem examination.

The incident has saddened animal lovers and regular visitors of the zoo. Following the cub’s death, Nandankanan’s tiger population now stands at 27, which includes 18 normal-coloured tigers, five white tigers, and four melanistic tigers.

Zoo authorities are monitoring the health of the remaining animals closely to ensure their well-being.
