India Negotiating Trade Deals Covering $15 Trillion GDP: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said India is negotiating trade agreements with 8–9 more countries and groups of nations representing a combined GDP of around $15 trillion.
Goyal said India’s expanding network of free trade agreements could eventually cover nearly 75% of global trade, strengthening the country’s position as a trusted partner in global value chains.

Addressing business representatives from India and Japan, he said India has signed nine trade agreements over the past four years, covering economies with a combined GDP of about $60 trillion and 38 developed countries. Earlier agreements with Japan, South Korea and ASEAN countries provide access to another $10 trillion in GDP.
The minister also highlighted major investment opportunities in India, particularly in data centres, manufacturing and artificial intelligence.

Leading a business delegation of more than 200 representatives in Japan, Goyal said stronger economic ties between the two countries should also contribute to more balanced bilateral trade.
