CBI Registers FIR Into Disha Salian Death After Bombay HC Direction

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in connection with the 2020 death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, following a direction from the Bombay High Court for a fresh probe into the case.

The development came two days after Salian’s father, Satish Salian, appeared before the central agency and recorded his statement as part of the investigation. In his statement, he raised allegations of a larger conspiracy and an alleged attempt to conceal facts surrounding his daughter’s death.

Satish Salian has sought an investigation into the alleged roles of several individuals, including former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray. His statement also refers to allegations involving the alleged creation of a false suicide narrative, as well as possible suppression, destruction or fabrication of evidence.

Several other names have also been mentioned in the statement, including Rohan Roy, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Sachin Vaze, Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur, Anil Deshmukh and police personnel. The statement further refers to Aditya Thackeray’s security personnel and individuals associated with the investigation and events surrounding Salian’s death.

The allegations also extend to personnel linked to Malvani Police Station, medical staff and doctors in connection with the post-mortem, officials of the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina, security guards at Regent Galaxy Building and other individuals whose roles have been sought to be examined.

As part of its investigation, the CBI had earlier approached Malvani Police seeking relevant documents, records and other material connected with Salian’s death.

The FIR follows the Bombay High Court’s direction for registration of a case and a fresh CBI investigation. The court has also directed that the probe be monitored by a senior officer of the central agency.

Salian, a celebrity manager, died in Mumbai in June 2020. Her death occurred days before actor Sushant Singh Rajput died, leading to public speculation about a possible connection between the two cases. The latest CBI probe is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death and the allegations raised by her family.

The allegations mentioned in the complaint and statement are subject to investigation, and no individual named in them has been established as guilty by the FIR or the ongoing probe.
