Bihar Cabinet Clears Major Development Projects, From AI to Roads and Irrigation

The Bihar Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, has approved a series of major proposals aimed at strengthening infrastructure, irrigation, technology, agriculture and the cooperative sector.
One of the key decisions is the approval of a six-lane Buxar-Bhagalpur corridor via Arwal, Nalanda, Jamui and Jehanabad, which will be developed through the PPP model with the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL).
The Cabinet has also approved ₹305 crore for a scheme aimed at ensuring better access to water across the state.
AI Push for Bihar
Bihar is also set to explore new opportunities in artificial intelligence. The Cabinet approved an agreement between Ayo India Private Limited and the state Information Technology Department to promote AI-related initiatives.


Irrigation Projects Get Funds
More than ₹35 crore has been approved for the restoration of canal systems in the Katihar region, including the Katihar Bhitrani, Phulwaria, Hasan Ganj, Baijnathpur and Sompur systems.
Another ₹30 crore has been sanctioned for the restoration of canal systems linked to Narpat Nagar and Janki Nagar.
Support for Sugar Cooperatives


The government has approved around ₹34 crore for 52 sugar cooperatives. The assistance will be provided partly as a grant and partly as working capital to strengthen the cooperative sector.
The Cabinet also approved the opening of sugar mills at Sakri in Madhubani and Raiyam in Darbhanga.
Livestock and Fisheries
For 2026-27, the Animal Resources Department has approved a breed improvement programme with an estimated cost of ₹63 crore through COMFED.
The Cabinet has also approved the formation of a Bihar State-Level Fishermen Cooperative Council.
Solar Power and Panchayat Finance
The Cabinet cleared a proposal related to registration fee exemptions for land documents connected with the Kajara Solar Power Project.

It also approved further action concerning the Bihar State Panchayat Finance Corporation under the Panchayati Raj Department.
Online Media Rules Amended
The government has approved amendments to the Bihar Social Media and Online Media Rules, 2026. The changes are aimed at making the promotion of public welfare schemes and government programmes through social media, web portals and online media more effective.
Overall, the Cabinet decisions cover roads, water supply, irrigation, AI, agriculture, sugar cooperatives, fisheries, renewable energy and digital communication, signalling a broad development push across Bihar.
