PM Modi, President Murmu to Attend Odisha Govt’s Two-Year Celebration in Rairangpur

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on Saturday to participate in a grand event at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district commemorating the completion of two years of the BJP government in the state.
President Droupadi Murmu will also attend the programme, making the occasion particularly significant as the country’s two highest constitutional leaders will share the stage in Odisha. The visit is expected to draw national attention and highlight the state’s developmental progress.

As part of the itinerary, the President and Prime Minister will travel to Pahadpur village, associated with the President’s in-laws, where they are slated to visit Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera sacred groves. They will also interact at local educational and skill development institutions, reflecting the focus on tribal welfare, education and community empowerment.
Later in the day, both leaders will participate in the state-level programme themed “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara” in Rairangpur. During the event, a series of major infrastructure and development initiatives worth more than Rs 47,600 crore are expected to be launched, inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid.
The projects span sectors such as power generation, transportation, industrial infrastructure, drinking water supply, healthcare, education, tourism and irrigation. These investments are aimed at accelerating economic growth, improving connectivity and creating employment opportunities across the state.
Among the key projects are the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project and the expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station through two additional 660 MW units. Several other infrastructure initiatives, including road development works, irrigation projects, a municipal waste-based compressed biogas plant in Bhubaneswar, and new educational facilities, are also on the agenda.
The programme will additionally witness the inauguration of a 300-bed district headquarters hospital in Boudh, 24 Atal Bus Stands and nine Automated Testing Stations across Odisha, aimed at strengthening healthcare and transport services.
Prime Minister Modi is also expected to address a large public gathering during the event and outline the government’s vision for Odisha’s future development.
Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place by Odisha Police across Mayurbhanj district, particularly in and around Rairangpur, to ensure the smooth conduct of the high-profile visit. President Murmu is scheduled to arrive in her native district on Friday evening ahead of the programme.
