Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has deported 75 out of 77 Bangladeshi infiltrators identified across the state between June 2024 and February 2026, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the State Assembly on Monday.
In a written reply to a question by BJD legislator Ganeswar Behera, the Chief Minister said the deportation process was carried out in accordance with directives issued by the Union Home Ministry.

He stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs had issued instructions on May 2, 2025, following which special task forces were constituted in all districts. These teams were assigned the responsibility of identifying, detaining, and deporting illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
Majhi further informed that all Superintendents of Police were directed to expedite the identification of infiltrators residing within their respective jurisdictions.
Providing district-wise details, the Chief Minister said the highest number of deportations was reported from Bhubaneswar with 26 cases, followed by Jagatsinghpur (21), Cuttack (15), Berhampur police district (6), and Kandhamal (3).
