Three Killed in Car–Truck Collision on NH-55 Near Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Three persons were killed after a speeding car collided with a stationary truck on National Highway 55 near Naksapali under Dhanupali police station limits on Sunday afternoon.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be established.

According to sources, the truck, loaded with ash, was parked along the highway when the car, travelling from Sambalpur town towards Maneswar at a high speed, reportedly lost control and rammed into it at around 4 pm. The impact was severe, leaving the car completely crushed and trapping the occupants inside.

Local residents rushed to the spot and informed the police. With the help of locals, police personnel rescued the victims from the mangled vehicle.

Two persons died on the spot and their bodies were sent for postmortem examination. The third victim, who was critically injured, was rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
