Ama Bus Accident: CM Majhi announces Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia for deceased auto driver

Bhubaneswar:  Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the next of kin of an autorickshaw driver who was killed in a road accident at Rupali Square in Bhubaneswar.

The CM has also directed officials to provide necessary training to the drivers to avoid repeated accidents in the Capital city.

He emphasised improving the skills of ‘Ama Bus’ drivers through regular training, focusing on their physical and mental health, and creating a sensitive attitude among them.

Meanwhile, members of the Online Smart City Auto Mahasangh staged a demonstration in front of the CRUT Gajabandha bus depot, demanding justice and compensation for the deceased driver’s family.

They also urged the authorities to ensure fair investigation into the accident and take appropriate action against those responsible.

The fatal accident took place when the speeding Ama Bus rammed into the auto from behind at Rupali Square. The impact was so severe, that the autodriver was killed on the spot and the auto was completely mangled.
