Vigilance Conducts Multi-Location Raids on Kotpad AEE Over Disproportionate Assets Allegations

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance Department on Friday carried out simultaneous searches at multiple properties linked to Satyanarayan Sethy, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Kotpad Block in Koraput district, following allegations that he had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The searches were launched after obtaining warrants from the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore. A large team comprising seven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), nine Inspectors, eleven Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and supporting personnel has been deployed for the operation.

According to Vigilance sources, raids are being conducted at seven locations spread across Koraput, Khordha, and Kendrapada districts. These include Sethy’s rented residence at Parabeda in Jeypore, a residential flat at Hi-Tech Plaza in Jatani, and his ancestral home at Jahangar village in Kendrapada district.

Officials are also examining his government quarters and office chamber at Kotpad, along with two farms reportedly owned by him at Taragaon under Boriguma Tahasil in Koraput district.

The coordinated operation is aimed at verifying movable and immovable assets allegedly acquired by the engineer during his service tenure. Vigilance officials are scrutinising documents, financial records, and property-related details as part of the investigation.

As the searches were still underway at the time of filing this report, the exact value of assets detected has not yet been disclosed. A comprehensive assessment and further details are expected after the completion of the raids.
