Two Hotels Sealed In Cuttack After Raid Finds Stale Food, Suspected Adulteration

Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Tuesday sealed two hotels in the Sector-6 CDA area following an inspection that allegedly uncovered stale food, expired dairy products and suspected adulterated paneer.
The civic body conducted the raid as part of its ongoing drive to enforce food safety and hygiene standards at hotels and eateries across the city.
During the inspection, officials reportedly recovered stale food items, expired curd and paneer suspected to be adulterated from the two establishments. The inspection teams also found poor sanitation in the kitchens, along with a significant quantity of food stored inside refrigerators.
A health officer said the overall hygiene conditions at both hotels were found to be unsatisfactory and the food quality did not meet the prescribed standards. Officials also observed vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items being stored together.
The suspected paneer was subjected to an iodine solution test during the inspection. According to another civic official, the sample turned black following the test, raising suspicion of adulteration.
Following the findings, the CMC sealed both hotels and seized the food items for further examination and necessary action.
