Rs 1 Crore Reward for Delhi’s Cleanest Ward!

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a major incentive for cleanliness, with the city’s best-performing ward eligible to receive up to Rs 1 crore every month.
The announcement was made as Gupta launched the ‘Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi–Swachhata Abhiyan 2026’ on Monday. The cleanliness campaign will run until October 2 and focuses on improving sanitation, strengthening waste management and encouraging citizens to keep their surroundings clean.
Cleanliness Is Everyone’s Responsibility

Speaking at an event at the Delhi Municipal Corporation headquarters, CM Rekha Gupta said cleanliness cannot be the responsibility of government departments or civic agencies alone. She called on Delhi residents to make cleanliness a part of their daily lives and habits.
Under the campaign, wards will compete against each other based on their cleanliness performance. The best-performing ward can receive a financial incentive of up to Rs 1 crore each month.
If a ward continues to perform exceptionally well, it can receive the incentive again. Over a full year, a single ward could potentially receive up to Rs 12 crore from the Chief Minister’s Development Fund (CMDF).
One Garbage Complaint Could End the Race

However, there is a catch. A ward could be disqualified from the competition if a complaint regarding garbage accumulation is received.
The performance of each ward will be assessed using reports from an independent agency and government officials, along with complaints submitted by citizens and through social media.
The government says the campaign is not just about cleaning Delhi temporarily but about making cleanliness a permanent part of the city’s everyday culture.
