Tragedy on Shravan Monday in Angul: Two Kawadias Swept Away, One Missing

Angul: Tragedy struck on Shravan Monday today in Angul district of Odisha as two Kawadias were swept away by strong currents in a canal. One of them has been rescued while the other is still missing.

The incident took place near the bridge over Lingara Nala when the two devotees had gone to collect water.

Their identities are yet to be established.

According to information, the two Kawadias had gone to Lingara Nala to collect water for Jalabhishek at Tipirisingha Temple. While they were lifting water, they were somehow swept away by the strong flow of water.

The locals who were present at the spot managed to rescue one of them, but there is no trace of the other.

On being informed, the Angul Fire Services team reached the spot. An intensive rescue and search operation is underway to trace the missing Kawadia.

Due to rain, water levels in the nala have risen and the current is very strong. In view of this, the administration has urged people to remain cautious while going near rivers, nalas and water bodies.
