Odisha Police Launches ‘Daman’ Drive Ahead of Festive Season

Odisha Police will launch a 10-day statewide special operation, ‘Daman’, from Monday to curb criminal and anti-social activities ahead of the festive season.

During the drive, police will closely monitor the activities and movements of known criminals and anti-social elements. Preventive action will be taken, while non-bailable warrants against wanted accused will also be executed.
The operation will focus on tackling illegal liquor trade, drug trafficking, and the illegal possession and movement of arms and explosives. Police will also take strict action against extortion and organised criminal activities.
Border areas will remain under heightened surveillance, with vulnerable routes likely to be blocked or sealed to prevent the movement of criminals and illegal goods across state borders.

District Police, Railway Police, Commissionerate Police and other units will work together as part of the operation. Officials said the drive is aimed at strengthening security and maintaining peace and public order across Odisha during the festive season.
