Puri Jagannath Temple To Introduce Dhadi Darshan System Before New Year, 10,000 Devotees Per Hour Expected

Bhubaneswar: Devotees visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri during the upcoming New Year rush are likely to benefit from a dedicated queue-based darshan system, with the Odisha Government planning to introduce the facility before the year-end.

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced on Friday that the proposed Dhadi Darshan system would be rolled out after the holy month of Kartik, ahead of the New Year celebrations. Technical preparations are in their final stages.

Under the proposed arrangement, eight ramps will be installed to facilitate darshan for up to 10,000 devotees per hour. The queue system will be set up between the Garuda Stambha and the Bahara Katha (outer wooden barricade).

Designed with technical support from IIT Bhubaneswar, the mechanism will function like a collapsible bridge, opening during darshan hours and retracting during rituals.

The final arrangement will be reviewed by the Chhatisha Nijog and the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee before implementation.

The initiative aims to streamline the movement of devotees, reduce congestion and ensure smoother darshan at the 12th-century shrine, particularly during peak festive periods.
