Odisha Sets Strict March 2027 Deadline for Mega Water Projects

The Odisha state government has set a firm deadline that all ongoing Mega Piped Water Supply projects must be finished by March 2027. This is a direct order from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. To enforce strict accountability, Minister Rabi Narayan Naik warned that any agency missing the deadline faces big penalties and could even be blacklisted.

At a recent high-level meeting, officials went over the latest numbers. Currently, 36 Mega Piped Water Supply projects have been completed and operational. Another 50 projects have hit key construction goals, with intake structures and Water Treatment Plants already in place.

To speed things up on the remaining projects, Minister Naik called a strategy meeting at the State Rural Development Institute in Bhubaneswar. He ordered every Rural Water Supply and Sanitation division and all their contractors to ramp up the work. That means deploying more workers on the ground, tightening up routine monitoring, and making sure construction meets top engineering standards.
