Odisha Rain Alert: Low-Pressure System Likely by Sept 11

Odisha is likely to witness another spell of heavy rain as a cyclonic circulation over the North Andaman Sea may trigger the formation of a low-pressure area over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coast by September 11.

On September 9, heavy rain is likely in Baleshwar, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj, with scattered showers across north and coastal Odisha.
On September 10, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj may receive heavy to very heavy rain, prompting an Orange Warning. Heavy rainfall is also forecast in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri.

On September 11, heavy to very heavy rain is expected mainly over Koraput and parts of south Odisha. Rain may continue on September 12, particularly in Koraput, Malkangiri and parts of western Odisha. Residents in affected districts have been advised to remain alert as heavy rain could disrupt roads and normal activities.
